John Stamos' original family name is Stamopolous, which was shortened by his grandparents when they came to America from Greece. His parents are Bill & Loretta, and he has two younger sisters, Janeen & Alaina, both schoolteachers. John's first professional role was as Blackie Parrish on the daytime soap, "General Hospital" (1963), which turned into a 2-year role, for which John won two Soap Opera Digest Awards (1982 & 1983). In 1987, he began the role of Jesse on "Full House" (1987/I), which is his best-known role to date, spanning 8 years. At his request, the writers of "Full House" gave his character the last name of Katsopolis, instead of the original character's name, Cochran, in order to highlight John's Greek heritage. He has played drums occasionally with The Beach Boys since 1985, and directed their "Hot Fun in the Summertime" video. More recently, he expanded his career to include the role of J. Pierrepont Finch in Broadway's production of "How to succeed in Business Without Really Trying!", in 1995, showcasing not only his musical talents, but his dancing ability as well. On September 19, 1998, he married Rebecca Romijn of MTV's "House of Style", which is the first marriage for them both. Stamos signs on for two shifts in the ER
Though John Stamos will skip out on joining the cast of ER as was originally anticipated, he will make guest appearances in two episodes of the long-running NBC drama.

I love John Stamos. John is like a good wine, he just gets better with age. I really love is tv movie from 1990 call "Born to Ride". John also does the best and the most respectful impersonation of Elvis Presley of all time. He also has a gorgeous singing voice and he is also such a great actor. It also doesn't hurt anything that he is a part-time drummer for my fave non-christian group The Beach Boys. I really love it when he says "Have Mercy". I sure hope that he finds another woman and becomes a father because I know that would be some beautiful babies.

if i ever met John Stamos, i think i would either cry or just wrestle him for his autograph. he was the hottest man when he was plating jesse on full house and he still doesnt look bad either. i watch every show he is interviewed on and people call me his stalker. i know when his birthday is, his first shows, when he was married. what can i say, i am in love with him!!! he played at our park concert two years ago, and he left right after so i never got the chance to meet him. i go to his high school, cypress, and i always say, "this is where john stood" i know. what a nerd, right? but he's my idol and i love him!

There are two kinds of actors in this old world: those with talent and those who get by on celebrity. John Stamos (or Ego McBeardstubble, as I like to call him) is the latter. Posessed of just enough charm and just enough good looks to get a couple decent jobs when he was in his 20's, Stamos has been riding on their reflected glory ever since. Now 43, he's a has-been no-talent classless act with nothing to his credit but some minor TV appearances, a failed TV show, and an utterly obnoxious character on ER. Of course, to hear John Stamos tell it, he's the second coming and the salvation of ER. Talk is something he does extremely well, and at any available opportunity, with the subject matter limited to one topic: himself and how wonderful he is. The trouble is, ER's ratings don't quite match all the talk: as the current lead's role has faded (in anticipation of his upcoming departure from the show) and increasing attention devoted to Stamos' odious character, the ratings have plummeted. There's only one reason for that. For all the talk, the one thing we've never seen any evidence of is talent. That, he lacks in abundance.

And now comes Australia, and at last his true colors show. For as long as I can remember, there have been these little whispers and small stories, from the days before the internet, of Stamos getting slammed and behaving like a fool. Now his behavior is out there for the world to see: visiting strip clubs, showing up for interviews and talk shows drunk off his arse, and sexually harassing show hosts. Small wonder Warner Brothers packed him on a plane and sent him home in disgrace after 24 hours. And sorry, but the claims of jet lag won't wash, and Oz has said as much.

Stamos just put a major match to his already dubious career. The wisest thing ER can do now is use the story in place to pack Stamos and his odious character off to another part of the hospital, off camera. Heaven knows, we'd all be better off for it.

I mean i like his character on full house which was jessie.
Other than that show i never seen him on any thing else and really didn't interest me. He's cute but i think is over rated on his looks. He kinda seems like a player and ain't he kinda old to be like that. Every now and then you see him in the audience of a award shows. Haven't seen him in any movies and may he has been in some but just had a bad reating or some thing. All in all he is an above average actor.

John Stamos' role in ER is well over his head. The Pratt character was much like Stamos' Gates character. However, the actor portrayiing Pratt was able to provide his character with depth and soulful charisma. Stamos lacks the ability to broaden his character or illicit a reason for the viewer to invest interest in Gates. As badly as the character is written, a talented actor can still derive meaning and some sort of virtue to his interpretation. Stamos is relying too much on his sex appeal rather than talent to advance this character. As for me, I think he lacks both talent and sex appeal. Drama is not the appropriate genre for Stamos. He should go back to sitcoms. There is a reason why his shows after Full House have not done well. He can't seem to grow out of his Uncle Jesse role.
