Allusions

  • The episode T is for Trouble contained many references to Mr. T's incredibly successful 1980's career. Here are a few of the many references:

At the start of the episode, the music that plays in the background while Mr. T is talking is very similar to the theme song from the show The A-Team, which aired between 1983 and 1987, and in which Mr. T starred.

Another reference to The A-Team comes at the end of the episode, when Mr. T says, "I love it when a plan comes together"; this was the catchphrase of the character Hannibal (played by George Peppard) on the show.

Also, the training sequence is an obvious reference to the movie Rocky (1976), starring Sylvester Stallone. However, the music that plays during the scene is very similar to the song "Eye of the Tiger", which was the theme song of the movie Rocky III (1982), in which Mr. T starred as the antagonist, James "Clubber" Lang.

Yet another reference is when Mr. T asks Johnny "Are you going to be somebody, or be somebody's fool?". This is a reference to Mr. T's 1984 motivational video Be Somebody... or be Somebody's Fool. []
  • Johnny: Time for a Johnny Snack!

This is an allusion to the show Scooby-Doo, where the gang feeds Scooby Snacks to Scooby to make him help them solve the mysteries. []
