JOYCE got her start on the musical stage playing in the revues of BILLY BARNES, whom she later married. During the 50's and 60's she usually played the cute, but dumb blonde and was a "strait female" for popular comedians such as RED SKELTON, STEVE ALLEN and DANNY KAYE. Although intelligent and a good actress, she unfortunately became stereotyped and never got any better parts. THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW was a pleasant exception in which she played SKIPPY, along with DAPHNE, played by actress JEAN CARSON. Together they were the "FUN GIRLS" who gave ANDY and BARNEY fits and provided a lot of laughs for the show. I believe that the "Cukoo Pigeon Sisters" in the movie THE ODD COUPLE and the LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY TV show, were probably based a lot upon the SKIPPY and DAPHNE characters. You know, two girls who just want to have fun. She was divorced from BILLY BARNES.
