Metropolis is in awe as Mantis, the Power Parasite, goes on a rampage. Captain Atom and Superman close in and the battle goes down into the subway. Superman manages to activate Mantis’ Boom Tube and send him back to Apokolips without the teleport device. Lois arrives and requests a one-on-one interview and they head off for a date. Outside, General Eiling contacts Captain Atom and reactivates his commission in the Air Force – Captain Atom has to choose between the USAF or the JLU.

Superman and Lois go on a picnic and she warns him about his reputation still taking a hit from when he was controlled by Darkseid. She warns him the public doesn’t trust the League after their recent actions. Sometime later the Huntress and Question are on a "date" – Huntress is beating up security guards while the Question is tracking the link between Cadmus and Luthor. In an underground lab, Professor Hamilton is examining Lex and reveals his cancer has disappeared and he no longer needs his chest plate. They’re interrupted by the arrival of Amanda Waller, who warns that the Question has the high-security files. The Question cracks the files, which reveal the facts about the Justice Lords and he believes their world’s future may follow the same path. Huntress arrives but he brushes off her concern and heads out to stop events from happening in this world. Huntress reviews the tape, which shows the Justice Lord’s Superman killing that world’s President Luthor.

Aboard the Watchtower, Superman is helping with repairs when the Question confronts him over the Justice Lords, and how the original members covered up how the Justice Lords' Superman killed President Luthor. The Question believes Superman would do the same and things are heading toward that consequence – it’s all predestined. Superman tries to reassure him but the Question leaves without saying anything. At LexCorp, the Question confronts Luthor and prepares to kill him to prevent the predestined future then take the blame himself. Displaying super-strength, Luthor sends him flying then easily defeats him, boasting that his Presidential campaign is merely a ploy.

One of Luthor’s minions, Doctor Moon, tortures the Question for the location of the files. In Metropolis, Superman hears Jimmy Olsen’s signal watch but finds Huntress has stolen the watch from a kidnapped Jimmy to contact Superman, and wants his help finding the Question. They find the Question's communication device in a junkyard and Superman decides to go on an off-the-books mission with Huntress to recover him. They break into the facility where he’s being held and easily get past the security guards. Superman spots Professor Hamilton and confronts him but Hamilton is unrepentant. They break in to the lab and the Huntress punches out Question’s torturer and they depart. But as they prepare to leave, Captain Atom shows up and declares that, as an officer of the Air Force, he is assigned to General Eiling and has his orders to keep them from taking Question.

Mantis, the Power Parasite

Mantis, first appearance New Gods #2 (April-May 1971) was created by Jack Kirby as part of his Fourth World series. His origins are unknown but presumably he is the result of Apokolips experimentation. He possessed some superhuman abilities but his primary ability was the capability to store and redirect energy. He typically spent time in a power pod recharging his energies but he could also absorb energies sent at him by an opponent such as Green Lantern. When power-augmented Mantis could fly, fire energy blasts, and generate extremes of heat and cold. He has served sporadically as Darkseid's lackey and like most of the Dark Lord's minions has occasionally risen up against his master. This is Mantis' first appearance in the WB animated universe.

Dr. Moon

Dr. Moon first appeared in Batman #240 (March 1972). Created by Denny O'Neil, Moon has no superhuman abilities but is an expert in psychological conditioning and torture. He sells his services to finance his experiments and has taken work for the Joker and the Suicide Squad among others in the past. As long as he is paid he doesn't seem to care what his employers do. This is his first appearance in the WB animated universe.
