Kate Ritchie was born on August 14, 1978, in Goulburn, rural NSW.

Through her role on Home And Away, television viewers have watched Kate grow up in Summer Bay. She filmed the pilot of the show in 1987 and has been in the series ever since, in the role of Sally Fletcher. At only 22 years of age Kate could be called a veteran of television having been involved with Home & Away for 15 years.

Before Home And Away, Kate had a role in the mini-series Cyclone Tracy.

During her time on Home And Away, Kate combined her long-term role as Sally with her education, completing the HSC in 1997. Kate studied through a program called 'Pathways' that allowed her to study for the HSC over three years, so she could continue her role on Home And Away. She was very pleased with her overall result.

On finishing her studies, Kate says, 'It was hard to combine both school and working on Home and Away, but it was something I felt I had to do for my own self worth. I am glad I persevered as it allows me to keep my options open for life after Home And Away. I was so relieved when it was all over and I could finally use all of my energy on Home And Away.'

Kate joins veteran actors Ray Meagher and and Norman Coburn (Fisher) in the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest serving actors on an Australian drama series.

After leaving Home And Away, Kate focused her attention on her radio show and took on a role in the hit series Underbelly.

When Kate manages to find time she likes to catch up on the latest movies and eat out with friends, although she does love to cook. She has singing lessons once a week and even has her Scuba diving licence - both of these being something that she would like to have more time to pursue.

Her family consists of her parents, two younger sisters and a younger brother. Kate Ritchie was born on August 14, 1978, in Goulburn, rural NSW.

luv you kate,for so long now.i just saw her tears on tv towards leaving,shame shame ,i had no idea...i am not much of a fan to many ,but to you i have been always.dont leave us and the show.ya make me want to be the man i coulda been.you turned out just like pip.i thought you be married by now ...you are my favourite star...had a crush on you ever since i can remember...i joined just to say hi and oh you will be mist.well i am pleased i can have a say .goodbye sweetness ,my 2 girls adore you also.being a few years older i was able to really grasp you right through the show.

What a star! Kate has graced our screens as Summer Bay's Sally Keating /Fletcher/ Saunders-Fletcher for almost 20 years and along with co-star Ray Meaghre is in the Guiness Book of Records for serving a long time in a soap, and lets face it Home and Away without Sally would be like Paris without the Eifell Tower. Over the years we have seen her grow from school girl to assistant head, and taking on a shadow of her adopted mother, Pippa. Kate is a talented actress and has a lot of potential to do more with her acting career, but the day she leaves H&A will be a loss for the soap.

my review on kate richie, is going to be a good so there is no neccesary use of "bad language"... well anyways obviously she's my favourite from home and away... she been on this tv series since the pilot in 1997... hoo nu it was goin to get so popular. they're have been so many people that have left home and away and they're have been so many people hoo have come to home and away. but someone hoo has been they're from the start is KATE (aka sally flecher). she's my favourite coz she so believeable when she acts its really kool. wish i could work with her, but as if anyone will notice me. she has apparently been in a movie on abc but i didn't seem to catch it... o well well anyways just riting to tell everyone that kate richie is such a good actor,,,, tewdles xoxox tori

Kate Ritchie is a legend and Home & Away would not be the same without her.
Saying she is a legend makes you think she is really old but it is only because she started young and has continually been around for years.
I really admire the way that she has grown up on television in the public eye ... it must have been really difficult at times.

I am a big fan of yours. I have watched every episode with you as Young Sally in Home and Away from 424-605.

I am living in a residential house because I have Aspergers Syndrome, which means I get stuck on magpies, I have been watching Home and Away with family and friends.

If I had a time machine I would meet you for a cake and a hot chocolate because we would be back to the age of ten.
