Kavanagh learns how dark the corridors of power can be when he defends Natasha Jackson, the daughter of a British ambassador, Sir Alan Jackson, on a charge of murdering an Austrian journalist.
Although Natasha is found guilty, Kavanagh's researches throw up some new information which could take the case to the Court of Appeal.
Meanwhile, Kavanagh's son moves into a squat.
