Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Keiko Agena (pronounced KAY-koh ah-GAIN-ah) began her acting career in theatre when she was ten years old and studied at the Mid-Pacific School of the Arts. She was one of only four students to be chosen as a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and was able to meet President Bush.
After she graduated, Agena moved to Los Angeles to further her career in theater, television and film. Before she got her role as Lane Kim in Gilmore Girls, Keiko landed several television and movie roles (See Credits).
Off the screen, Keiko is involved with several organizations and initiatives which address the issues and concerns of Asian-American actors in the industry. She was a member of the Meisner-based ITC ensemble and the acting company called "hereandnow" which tours around the country staging original pieces.
