LATEST NEWS!

Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Lionel Richie, Jack Black, Matt Dillon, Weird Al, Topher Grace among those headed to Springfield next season.

Celebrities haven't truly made it until they've lost a few fingers and had their skin turned yellow. No, it isn't the latest procedure to keep aging starlets looking sharp on Wisteria Lane or a new Scientology initiation.

A guest appearance on The Simpsons has become the equivalent of hosting Saturday Night Live during that show's glory years, and Fox has unveiled the lucky celebs who will be visiting Springfield this upcoming season.

In the premiere episode "He Loves to Fly and He D'ohs," airing September 23, Homer will fly in Montgomery Burns' private jet with singing sensation Lionel Richie. Eager to have a plane of his own, Homer then employs a life coach (played by Stephen Colbert) to help him get on the right track to afford one.

Further into the season, the list of guest stars includes Steve Buscemi as a bank robber, Jack Black as a comic-book store owner, Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Sideshow Bob, and Grammer's Frasier castmates David Hyde Pierce and John Mahoney as Bob's family.

Jon Stewart, Maya Rudolph, Dan Rather, Kurt Loder, Placido Domingo, Weird Al Yankovic, Matt Dillon, Beverly D'Angelo, and Topher Grace will also be featured in the next season.

Don't forget, The Simpsons Movie hits theaters July 27. For more information on the television show, read TV.com's previous coverage.

OK... I agree that you don't have to know who he is, but before you question someone, you can at least have the decency of getting some information. Or is the internet just for chats and games?

I can't believe some people don't know who Placido Domingo is! It's not even a matter of liking opera... does anyone even watch news or read newspapers? He is known all over the world!

While a return of Sideshow Bob is always a solid episode, and expanding upon the previous Frasier references is nice, it is unfortunate that this season will probably wind up to be more of the same. Please for the love of god Fox, as an old school Simpsons fanatic, let them rest in peace already and bring back Futurama for a more serious, extended stay instead.

It's all academic, I'd still watch the show even without any celebrity guest voices. That said, I'll be interested to see the show with Weird Al voicing.

Wow this is a pretty good guest list. Can't wait to see how tthe writers use them all in the episodes this season. But I don't think Jack Black should be a guest. He's not as funny as he thinks he is

I will not be watching it yet again. The Simpsons need to go! They aren't interesting anymore. It's sad really, they were quite good for years.

Wow that is a pretty good guest list except for Placido Domingo who the hell is he. Also Steve Buscemi was already on the Simpsons as himself. Some actors from Lost or Entourage would be cool.
