Kim suffers from agoraphobia (fear of open spaces). (edit) In January 2007, Kim's ex-husband, Alec Baldwin accused her of breaching a 2004 custody agreement over their daughter, Ireland. Alec alleges Kim failed to tell him she'd be out of town, giving him an opportunity to care for Ireland and she failed to inform him of an injury Ireland suffered which needed medical attention. Court papers allege Basinger has a "pathological need" to distance Ireland from her father. Kim must now answer 12 contempt of court charges, and faces a 60-day jail sentence and $1300 fine if she's found guilty. (edit) In October 2006, Kim was charged with disregarding court orders over her ex-husband Alec Baldwin’s custody rights to their daughter, Ireland. The couple agreed to share joint custody of Ireland, but Kim allegedly stopped Alec seeing her and failed to tell him when Ireland was injured in 2005. Kim pleaded not guilty but, if convicted, she could spend up to two months in jail and receive a $16,000 fine. (edit) Kim turned down the title role in Boxing Helena (1993) that later went to Sherilyn Fenn. (edit) She is of German, Swedish and Cherokee Indian ancestry.
