Buck Strickland embarks on a propane price war with Thatherton and two other rivals, and hires the guys from "American Chopper" to boost sales at the Propane Expo. When the 'war' goes too far, and the companies are all losing profit, Hank takes matters into his own hands, and calls a meeting. Unfortunately, the owners decide to 'price fix' and get caught. Meanwhile, Lucky and Luanne wait for Brownville Station tickets, in line 6 days before tickets go on sale.
Write a Recap »With Buck Strickland and Thatherton and the towns other propane sellers engaged in a bitter price war, Hank tries to settle matters, but his efforts backfire on him, in this average installment... hide show
Ahh... the return of 'King of the Hill'. For me, at least. I'd been watching and reviewing the previous episodes of Season 10 when shown by Channel 4 here in the U.K. at all hours in the middle of the night, until three or so months ago when they suddenly stopped dead. They finally resumed their run last night, and I just happened by chance to spot it billed and set my recorder in time!
Bearing that in mind, I had lost the feel for the season a little. Maybe that affected my feel of this episode slightly, but even so, I found this one a rather average-at-best affair.
Things start off with some potential, with Strickland Propane and Thatherton's engaged in a bitter price war, each offering low price promotions and both losing out. The local biker TV stars that Buck hires to promote Strickland okay, but not nearly as funny as they might have been.
After Hank has tried to unite the warring propane sellers who in turn decide to do a little price fixing, the development of Hank being forced to try and record some evidence, is introduced too late in the episode and doesn't really have enough time to fully develop.
However, with the convenient return of the biker celebrities, the story wraps up nicely and doesn't completely fall flat.
There is also a subplot of Lucky, Luanne and Bobby waiting for rock concert tickets six days before they go on sale, which doesn't really go anywhere much but adds some nice support to the episode's main plot.
