Poland born but German raised Kinski became an actor after WWII ended (he has spent most of as a British POW). He had an undistinguished and mediocre career (his filmography is endless). The few memorable performances he gave were in several of Werner Herzog's films. The collaboration ended in 1987 because of artistic differences during the filming of "Verde Cobra." His later years were spent in Hollywood alternating between splashy high-profile movies and slasher b-movies.

Klaus Kinski was one of the best actors in the realm of creepiness. hide show

Klaus Kinski does not get as much respect as he deserves. Kinski was a master of acting bizarre and the fact that he looked really bizarre made him all the more believable. As a fan of films involving psychopaths, I have always enjoyed those which Kinski appears in. My favorite Kinski film is Crawlspace, in which he plays the owner of an apartment building with very large heating ducts. Kiski uses the duct system to spy on the tenants which he occasionally has to kill. When he is not crawling around in the vents he is putting on lots of makeup and watching videos of Hitler giving speeches. Now isn't that an excellent sounding film?! Schizoid is another classic psycho-killer film featuring Kinski. In Schizoid Kinski plays a strange psychiatrist who specializes in group sessions. Kinski's patients begin dying and the viewer is left wondering, "is this one of the films with the obvious killer, that weirdo Kinski? Or is it someone else?" The moral of the story is, if you see a film where Klaus Kinski is playing any sort of nut case, watch it, you know he will be very amusing at the very lest.
