Betty and Valerie are captured by giant scientists who are sound radar to track them down. hide show

Interesting episode following the events of the last episode, the Spindrift is in need of repair. Steve and Mark think radium will help it. They find a clock and lead foil. However, they also see that giant scientists are camping in their area.

This is the episodw where it's established more and more than the giant scientists are not that advance. It's established in the next episode "Creed" that people finding the people are offered a reward in exchange.

A decent episode. Steve and the rest plot a rescue attempt which involves making a small bomb to destroy the sound radar as a distraction to save Betty and Valerie.

  • As Fitzhugh and Barry watch the three giants fight, the long shots show them stood behind a rock side-by-side, but the close-ups show Barry in front with Fitzhugh's arms around his shoulders. []
  • Continuity: Originally the Spindrift took off from New York on its ill-fated flight to London. With this episode, the departure point changes to Los Angeles. []
  • 50-year technology gap: an experimental sound-detection system []
  • A very early episode (#3 in production order): two cans are marked with alien writing, and the giant scientist seems to be using some kind of translating device to understand what Betty and Valerie are saying. The "alien" elements are subsequently dropped to expand the storytelling possibilities. []
  • The giants wrap their candy bars in lead foil?!? Hopefully they've got a way to deal with widespread lead poisoning! []
