Larry Kenney was born in Perkin, Illinois, on August 5, 1947. In 1963 he began his career in the broadcast world at the age of 15 as a Disc Jockey for WIRL radio in Peoria, Illinois. His career in the radio world would take him to Macomb, IL, Fort Wayne, IN, Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL, before finally ending up in New York. He currently works for the cast of Imus in the Morning on MSNBC.

His voice talents have also included childrens commercials and cartoons. The most famous of which was his voice work on ThunderCats where he voiced the hero of the show, Lion-O, as well as

More an evil Mutant named Jackalman. Whenever his two characters had dialogue with each other, he would voice them simultaneously in real time.

He is married to Carol and they have three children. His oldest, Kerri, was born in 1970, and has made a name for herself in Hollywood as an actress on Comedy Central. His daughter Ashley was born in or around 1984, and went to the University of Vermont to study animal science. His son Tanner was born in or around 1988, and loves to play the electric guitar.

In an online chat, Larry Kenney once said that his role on ThunderCats made him a star with his children.

    Watch Family Guy to see AND HEAR a cameo by our favorite Larry "Lion-O" Kenney. I was TOTALLY surprised and THRILLED when I heard that voice I have known all too well for the last 20 years.
