  • Were Dave's jokes inappropriate?

I thought that was the role of the comedian - to be inappropriate sometimes. Fox News people talk smack all the time.

  • After 2009 will Letterman try and get Leno on as a guest?

Is there still a rift between these two following the post Carson battle or is it nothing more than a bit of healthy professional rivalry? Oprah on Letterman was the TV event of the decade, but do you think we'll ever see Leno on Letterman after he leaves the tonight show?

He is absolutely overrated, unfunny, and overpaid. His musical sidekick is borderline braindead. Annoying show! If you want funny, watch Ferguson! hide « show »

David Letterman used to be great. His sarcastic comedy had a bite, but he always had a twinkle in his eye. Sadly, Letterman has lost that twinkle and now comes across as angry and bitter, even crotchety. Still, his show undeniably once was great. hide « show »

In the 1980s, as a teenager, I loved Letterman. His wit, his sarcasm, his undercutting of all pomp and circumstance. It was just great. I remember quoting his top ten lists to my friends the next at school.

My love for Letterman's early humor makes it that much more painful for me to say ... I just don't find him funny anymore.

Perhaps my comedy tastes changed when I became an adult, I don't know. But nowadays Letterman comes across like a crotchety old man. His sarcastic remarks used to be told with a glint in his eye, but now it just seems mean. The old Letterman clearly loved people, loved America, even if he thought we were a bunch of idiots. We were good idiots who meant well and enjoyed laughing at ourselves.

But in the last 5-10 years, whenever I've watched Letterman ... he seems to genuinely dislike people. That winking glint is gone and has been replaced with an angry scowl. And it's just no fun listening to an angry clown.

David letterman is one of the best talk shows hosts of all time. hide « show »

David Letterman has changed my view on late night television. I use to think that late night television was reapeats of cheesey shows and shows that have a high rating. But Letterman is diffrent. One night I couldn't sleep so I was watching television and I came across David. I thought it was going to be cheesey but I was wrong. I loved it like great moment in presidental speaches our on of the many other of his great segmants. I would put David letterman up there with Rove micmanus who is a great host of any Australian show of all time.

Letterman is definatley the best talk show on television. He's a watered down version of Greg House. The only thing I don't like is Paul (That stupid band guy) he looks really weird when he opens his mouth really wide and try's to match his mouth movements with the music. The best thing about Letterman is he doesn't give a crap, I remember the episode where he ripped Paris Hilton in Half. Almost made her cry on the show (Watch the youtube video). Paris Hilton got what she deserved. Screw You Paris! Definatley the Best joke, though was when he asked Hayden Panettiere (On Heroes) if she knew if they would ever get off the island.

You can't go wrong with David Letterman! hide « show »

My husband and I watch David Letterman all the time. He's funny and different from the other nightly talk show hosts, which is the reason I like him so much. The sketches aren't so scripted, which can obviously be a bad thing if you like your shows that way, but I don't. I like the play-on-bit they get with David Letterman. He spends a half hour joking around (sometimes a bit too much and maybe a bit off kilter) and doing the Top 10 and a few others. Then we have our very special guests ... ahem. Then there's Rupert. Oh we absolutely love Rupert. Rupert is the owner of Jee's Hello Deli, a deli (obviously) which is right around the corner from the studio where The Late Show With David Letterman is filmed. He does funny sketches and has people come in off the street to try to win prizes and we get to see it all. It's funny and we really like him. One day I'm going to make it to New York and hello deli, here I come. I'm gonna give ole Rupert a visit and order me a sandwich and coffee for sure.

In short, David Letterman is funny and there's always something different going on. I usually don't have too much to complain about when it comes to this show. Rock on, David Letterman!
