Evan says that he decided to play piano because his mother used to play Elton John on the stereo all the time. He loved when Elton John sang high notes, and he said that if he could sing like that, he would. Since he can't, he learned how to play. This is an inside joke: Wilson Jermaine Heredia starred as Angel Dumott Schunard, a high-singing drag queen in the hit musical RENT. He won a Tony for that role, and he can definitely sing 'like that'. (edit) Don Cragen: This is post-McMartin.

This is in reference to the the case against the McMartin family who owned a preschool in Manhattan Beach, California. In 1983, a mother accused the owner's grandson, Ray Buckley, of sexual abuse. When the word got out about the first case, others then came forward making accusations. After six years of trials, no convictions were ever obtained and all the charges were dropped. (edit)
