- This episode departs from the usual story format, exploring the running subplots involving the personal issues of every main character on the series. Situations included Schiff's re-election, the death of Briscoe's daughter, Curtis's troubled home life, McCoy's summons to the disciplinary committee, Van Buren's lawsuit and Ross's custody battle with her ex husband. All of these issues converged into cliffhangers that were left unresolved at the end of the episode. Most of these issues were not addressed in the ninth season premiere. edit »
- Plumber: (Referring to a back room.) Hey, there's some mean mother rats in there.
