- Lt. Blair is said to have trained for carrier landing on the Minnesota. There was a wooden steam frigate called the USS Minnesota in service from 1855-1898. A battleship of the same name was active from 1905-1927. There has been no U.S. Naval ship with that name since then. edit »
- The suspect is the Chief Aviation Mechanics Mate on the U.S.S. Mendenhall (CV 80). As of the airing of this episode, the highest numbered carrier in the Navy was the not-yet-commissioned U.S.S. Ronald Reagan (CV 76). The carrier may have been named in honor of Lt. Cmdr. Corwin Mendenhall, who was commanding officer of the U.S.S. Catfish SS-339 from 1948 to 1950. edit »
- Stroud's shipmates refer to him as simply 'Stroud', which is not the correct form of address. He should be refered to as 'Chief' or 'Chief Stroud'. edit »
- All enlisted people are shown wearing white hats, but they would normally be wearing command ball caps. edit »
- Lt. Blair is shown wearing the summer white uniform with both shoulder boards and silver lieutenant's bars on the collar points. Collar insignia and shoulder boards are never worn together. Oddly, this error wasn't made with any other officer. The Navy is also never "covered under cover" -- no hats indoors! edit »
- There is currently no notes. Add notes!
- Louie Palumbo: I want protection.
Lennie Briscoe: You got fourteen cousins that look like a moose herd when they get together. I'm sure they can baby-sit you for a few hours while we bag this guy. edit » - Lennie Briscoe: So what happened to the dog?
Officer: It's with my partner.
Lennie Briscoe: Where's your partner?
Officer: Lincoln Hospital. Paramedics couldn't pry the dog from his butt.
Lennie Briscoe: What kind of dog?
Officer: Chihuahua.
Lennie Briscoe: Let me know how they word the commendation. edit » - Officer: You think it's that mugger who kills his victims?
Lennie Briscoe: I don't think. edit »
- Adam Schiff: Her picture is on every little girl's wall, right next to Sally Ride.
Astronaut Sally Kristen Ride was the first American woman to go into outer space. edit » - This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the 1997 sex scandal involving the U.S. Air Force and Lt. Kelly Flinn. edit »
- Jack McCoy: I got over Pete Rose.
Peter Edward Rose Sr. is the all time career hits leader in Major League Baseball. He was banned from any activity involving professional baseball after it was found he had a gambling problem and had bet on baseball games. He is also the father of professional ball player Pete Rose Jr. and actress Chea Courtney. edit » - Jamie Ross: It's like finding out Amelia Earhart flew to Bakersfield and hid out for 50 years.
Amelia Earhart was a famous American pilot who disapeared over the Pacific Ocean in 1927 while attempting to be the first woman to fly around the world. edit » - Lt.. Blair trained at N.A.S. Miramar. N.A.S. Miramar is located in San Diego, California, and was the former location of the Navy's Top Gun school until 1996 when the base was turned over to the U.S. Marine Corps and the Top Gun school was transfered to N.A.S. Fallon, Nevada. edit »
Navy Blues
The Bottom Line: "Informative"03/30/08 02:24pm | report abuseA comment vs a summary. Interesting storyline involving fictional carrier USS Mendenhall, with my father's name-Corwin G. Mendenhall,Jr-now deceased. Related info re: his rank & date of service on USS Catfish caught my attention. LCDR, USN-early '50s. ...Continue »
