By advertising this episode as the 300th episode of Law & Order, NBC network executives did not include the CBS pilot in their calculations.
(edit)
In an unusual cameo, Larry Miller appears as himself, despite appearing in two previous episodes as Michael Dobson, a fictional character who arranges for the murders of his wives.

Ed Green: I checked the Web --
Lennie Briscoe: For what, millionaire perverts? (edit) Larry Miller: Good comics look at the world and see a funny place. Great comics look at the world and don't. (edit) Monty Bender: Being wealthy is a curse. (edit) Anita van Buren: You're saying the parents know what's going down?
Ed Green: People get around fame and they get stupid.
Lennie Briscoe: No, standing in line to see Madonna is stupid. This is a felony. (edit) Larry Miller: I heard some kid accused him of inappropriate behavior.
Lennie Briscoe: Like using the wrong fork?
Larry Miler: I don't think Monty would pay seven figures to cover that up. (edit)

Serena Southerlyn: It's a website like The Smoking Gun. People post documents, facts, theories about everything from the Kennedy assassination to vote-counting in Florida. The Smoking Gun website was founded in 1997 and is currently owned by Court TV. They describe their content as "exclusive documents-- cool, confidential, quirky--that can't be found elsewhere on the Web." They specialize in mug shots of celebrities and unusual-looking people.
(edit)
This episode appears to be ripped from the headlines of the Michael Jackson child molestation scandal.
(edit)
Ed Green: You're saying Monty's gay?
Hotel Manager: Hey, don't ask, don't tell.
The controversial American policy on gays in the military is usually summarized as "don't ask, don't tell." A member of the military cannot be asked about their sexual orientation and someone who reveals that he or she is homosexual faces a dishonorable discharge. (edit)
