Damian Lewis stars as a former police officer who, after years of false imprisonment, returns to the force with a decidedly different philosophy. Grounded For Life's Donal Logue has been added to the cast of the series. He plays the captain of Lewis' character, Cpt. Tidwell. The L Word's Sarah… More Shahi plays Lewis's partner Det. Dani Reese whose past is a little shady.
Did they make them for the show or are they available somewhere. BTW: Best crime-drama ever. Never have I seen such character development in thisgenre. Guess it was too smart for it's own good.
When the first season of life started, I was hooked on the background of the main character Charlie, plus the continuing investigation on who set Charlie up, but when the second season started the interest die out. The focus of Life, shifted from the mystery behind the incarceration to hunting a… More recurring villain and my personal favorite Roman Nevikov played by Garret Dillahunt. The story of Life never explained what exact role Roman played in the frame up, and it never explained why Roman kidnapped Reese after luring her away from her job as a LA detective. Was Roman broke? How did he get Broke? Why did he hate Crews? Roman went from criminal master mind to a stupid kidnapper in just a few short episodes after it appeared that he had a good thing as a business man in the Black Market. What was really disappointing, was how easy each story was tailored to make Charlie (the former inmate) look smart. The creators of Life had Charlie solve his first case as if he never stopped being a detective when the plot clearly states that Charlie was a simple officer before he went to prison and not a detective . Then second season comes up, and they deep six Lt. Davis who was the major thorn in Charlie's side. Davis is the typical boss that's never satisfied with the main character's work, Lt. Davis is replaced with a cupcake like Tidwell who has office affairs with Reese, but it would have been better if the story kept Davis and created a situation where she had Lesbian affairs with Reese. The last thing that killed the story of life was the mood on the show which was usually depressing, and it started at the beginning of the second season when Crews takes the train because he has no car, and while on the train he spends most of the time looking at the ground until a kid asks him about his gun. Second season made no significant improvements over first after carefully consideration about the empty house Charlie lived in without a bed to sleep on, and the car he chooses which was a Buick Grand National. When comparing the character of Charlie to similar characters like Marvel comics Tony Stark or DC comics Bruce Wayne Detective Crews fails to make it. Overall, I can't say that I know of anybody that would say I wish I had Charlie's "cool Life" instead of the typical dull life of an ordinary citizen!
Cancellation of "Life" - brought to you by the same bunch of geniuses who killed "Scrubs". There are people who somehow manage to screw-up everything they touch. No amount of education, life experience or good advice can help that. Budget considerations are simply a matter of competence of the… More network staff (or lack thereof, when shows like "Life" get cancelled). Look at their line-up as it stands now. "Heroes" and "Chuck" - fine, but I have a feeling with this bunch of retards "Chuck" won't be far behind... NBC...what a poor excuse for a tv network....
A brilliant show with a smart cast,brilliant script and intelligent plotlines.....cancelled after a season.But what a pity the powers that be didnt take into consideration that some tv viewers actually have brains..... hide show
Well what can i say!There is few plot driven and full charactered cop shows out there and this was one of them.A cop gets wrongly convicted of a crime he didn't commit,gets out on an appeal and financially compensated for his troubles,except that wasn't the end of his troubles.The people who framed him want his silence but he refuses to stop digging for the truth.Cant praise the cast enough in this show they really made it shine.I couldnt find any fault with casting,directing or writing of this show so i suppose that the bottom dollar killed this unfortunately.What a waste-had another two seasons left in it at least!
Great show with Detective Crews's Zen outlook on life and his hard boiled partner Reece. The two made a great pair and of course his story of an innocent man who after being exonerated sues his way back into the LAPD. hide show
Great show with Detective Crews's Zen outlook on life and his hard boiled partner Reece. The two made a great pair and of course his story of an innocent man who after being exonerated sues his way back into the LAPD. Crew's quirks kept the show moving using deflection to get to the truth and avoid allowing rage to take him over. Reece had a typical checkered past which made for great stories and conflicts. Her rigid outlook collided often with Crews's eastern philosophy but in the end they were devoted to each. Going against the brass and even sometimes there own families in favor of being good partners. If your looking for great characters and stories I would advise picking this on up on dvd. It was a breath of fresh air to the tv landscape providing a new type of protagonist and wonderful mature stories.
It was a really great show. I love it. I love every stars in the show. Would be very happy, if it has not been canceled... going to missing you guys very much, especially Charlie Crews. He is one of the most smart and special detective I've ever seen. I like the way he handle the case. I like the way he talked. And there was something really funny... It was one of very few shows which can make me laugh a lot. And most importantly, it is not in the lousy way. It had a very sepcial angle. Please put it back on.

Life is a one of a kind cop show that centers around a detective named Charlie Crews who was wrongfully imprisoned 10 years for a double homicide he did not commit. While he was in prison he became a Zen Master of sorts and was one with everything around him. His partner is Detective Dani Reese and she is reluctant at first to work with him, but she had no choice. As time goes on, she sees that Charlie is a great detective and starts to accept him. Charlie spends much of his time off duty running his own investigation into who framed him for murder and where the little girl of the couple he supposedly killed disappeared too. He finds many clues that tie many people together, but then realizes that there is a much larger conspiracy that he has to solve.
Life is one of the best shows on TV period every episode has its special moments. hide show
how can i begin i am truly disappointed and sad that NBC has canceled Life it is by far the best thing on TV the cast is phenomenal and the writers have done a amazing job in a short time to warp it up and give us a great ending to a great show. i already miss watching it every week with my family they all loved. My favourite character is Charlie Crews he is played by Damien Lewis
he is funny,smart and very interesting especially the way he solves crimes.... i really hope some other network pick up life it will be a real loss if its not going to be on Tv anymore!
