The Wisdom Of SolomonEpisode Number: 65 Season Num: 3 First Aired: Monday March 7, 1977 Prod Code: 3019 |
Solomon Henry, an 11-year-old African American child who feels oppressed by his heritage's lack of opportunity, runs away from his mother and older brother to chase his dream of attending school somewhere. He comes across Charles Ingalls in Mankato, secretly hitches a ride in the back of his wagon, and eventually becomes a guest in the Ingalls' home. As he helps out around the farm and goes to school in Walnut Grove, Solomon's optimistic attitude is a true inspiration to the whole family--particularly Laura, who has been struggling in school recently. Solomon grows in his own faith and hopes for a better future, but it will be tough to escape the pain of his past.

Walnut Grove is a three day wagon trip from Mankato, it's hard to believe Charles or Doc Baker wouldn't notice Solomon riding on the back.
