Lex is back and romance is in the air. hide show

So finally the important stuff happened. Lex has risen from the dead, it took him half a season to do so and now we have the great villain back. Enough of Lex... now to the really exciting part. Clark finally had the guts to ask Lois out. The date didn't happen of course, every series stalls as long as they can... But the feelings are uncovered now and it's just a matter of time. This may be the most famous couple on fiction and it's just great to watch the relationship develop from the beginning in this series and we are getting to the good part of the story.

  • When Lois is filling the champagne glass to overflowing she puts it on the floor and cleans the latter. The champagne glass is still full to the top but when Lois picks it up and gives it to Clark, it's only half full. []
  • Attorney Sheldon Bender's yacht is named $ue! "U" with a dollar sign in place of the S. There also seems to be a patch over part of the name, as if they put a panel over the yacht's actual name to adjust it appropriately for the episode. []

"I Only Have Eyes For You" by The Flamingos []
  • Christian Clemensen reprises his role of Rollie Vale from the earlier episode "Metallo". []
  • Perry: (as he searches his office for a second bomb) Lois, stop being paranoid. []
  • Lex: (dangling Bender over a put filled with rats) Look Gretchen, the rats have an appetite tonight.
Gretchen: But will they eat one of their own? []
  • Clark: (Lois tries to clean the floor, as Clark comes out of the bedroom) What happened?
    Lois: Oh, I had a muscle. . . a mishap. . . I had a mishap. []

  • Lex: There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamed of in your philosophy, Mr. Vale.

Lex is paraphrasing yet another play by Shakespeare, Hamlet. []
  • Lex quotes from Shakespeare's play Richard III. This is highly appropriate, since Richard was a misshapen, yet supremely charismatic and powerful man. But unlike Lex, Richard won the woman of his choice, though shortly afterwards he was overthrown in battle by the future King Henry VII. []
  • Clark: Turns out Nigel was more than Lex's 'Mr. Belvedere'...

Mr. Belvedere was an 80s TV show featuring a high class British housekeeper caring for a regular American family. []
