    nice one!! hide show

Very fast paced and a lot of action going on.
I sure liked to hear more about Fiona's past. I just found it a bit interesting that she gave Michael so much grief for not telling her he was engaged when she never spoke about her little sister..

Anyways, I knew this thing with Strickler would end up bad. Nothing comes for free and the guy sure looked like trouble.

Michael wanted his job so much that sometimes it's easy to manipulate him. Not to mention, threatning his family usually works fine as well. He wants to serve his country but won't set up for lies to get there..

The worst thing.. I mean, something I just think that let me down a bit is that Michael never gets hurt. Since he's the guy doing 70-80% of all the jobs, the show would just stop if he receives a severe injury. I mean, Strickler getting 2 bullets and not firing a single one was a bit off. Had he shot at least one, it'd make Mike's efforts a lot more honorable. Selfless hero putting his loved one first and his health last..
But like I said, producers need him to be jumping, kicking and running in every episode, so no can do..

Overall, the series is going great. Just a shame Michael's determination is almost going into fanatism..

    Cheers!

    Raw Deal hide show

I really liked this episode, it's true it put Michael back at square one but that was acutally a good thing because I had a feeling it was too good to be true and well if Michael was taken out of the Burn Notice right now then it would be game over and I didn't want the game to end just yet.

But what made this episode stand out for me was I thought it was pivital for what Michael really wanted out of his life. Michael I always felt was always looking for something in life. The spy business was all he had because he had nothing else but now that he does with Fiona and his relationship with his friends and family as well as new job which really isn't that different from his old one, he now has to ask himself what is he going back to? It also parallels with Fiona whom will leave if Mike doesn't give her a reason to stay. But as usual the emotion involved made it great.

Really liked Fiona's brother Sean he helped reveal a portion of Mike and Fiona's past which brought more depth to the two. The ongoing case was good because it was another part of both Mike and Fiona's past, you really do hate the current bad guy their trying to take down, hearing about what he did from killing Fiona's youngest sister for no reason and other horrible things made my guts boil.

There really were some great moments of emotional intensity. Like Michael's final interaction with Stryker, he may have fancy clothing and seem like a friend but by nature the man is a rat, we see that the get out of jail free card he gave Michael was counterfit when we discover he sold Michael out on his current case which jepardized Fiona's life, all so he can use Michael to make more blood money. Hurt Michael shame on you, but hurt Fiona and your going to get hurt, all I'll say to this is Stryker had it comming and when Michael gave him exactly what he deserved it felt great. And of course I really felt concern and was in suspense hoping that Sam and Michael will save Fiona in time, from the ongoing action as well as the intense interplay between the main bad guy and Fiona things really felt as though they could of gone either way. I won't say what happens but I'll just say the main bad guy had it coming for a long time. Personally I'm glad he made the decision to stay because if he went back I doubt he would of been happy, there really isn't anything back at that business that he is missing except other assignments but thats it. Really liked the interaction between both Fiona and Michael at the end which was sweet and showed their feelings for one another were genuanely strong. Even though both really don't have anywhere else to go they don't need to because their home is with each other.

However the cliffhanger at the end was unsettling but expected. As a saying goes where there are heroes there will always be villians.

Not in the top ten percent of the show's episodes. But okay... hide show

I expected more. The premise sounded so good. Fi in danger and in need of rescue! Now that sounded like a good switch up. But, the big thing that detracted from the ep for me was actually a little thing which was Michael's (Jeffrey Donovan's) Irish accent. He just seemed so self conscious doing it, and it wasn't very good, certainly not good enough I don't think to have passed himself off as Irish to Fiona's family and friends. This to me took believability of the episode right off the table early on and I couldn't get past it after that (please get JD some accent coaching next time BN producers!). Also, while I'm griping, I found it some how anticlimactic when what happened with Strickler happened. And another thing - I couldn't really buy Michael Weston getting so easily duped and compromised by Strickler carrot of old-job-back notwithstanding - it seemed to go against his character to do so. Here's hoping for a better execution of the metaplot for season 3b)... perhaps this as yet unseen villain who started making his/her presence known at the end of the ep will take the show back up a notch or two (it needs a little boost) ...

Someone is after Fiona from her past while Mike appears to be closer to getting his Burn Notice revoked. Now, on a side note would this still be called Burn Notice if that were to actually happen? hide show

This was a pretty good episode. It was not a great season finale. It was still a good one though.

It was cool to see Michael actually kill someone for once. There is too much liberality on this show. He is a spy and he is in a messy business. He can not deal with the kinds of cases he deals with and not get his hands messy. That stood out in this episode though.

The Fiona/Michael relationship was in the same spin cycle it has always been. Just like Michael said their not really good at this sort of thing. And neither were the writers. The acting was good but the actors had nothing to work with except more of the same.

Look, I understand if Michael gets his Burn Notice taken away it might be the end of Burn Notice, but to be honest I was kind of bored when it appears he went back to square one again with yet another unseen enemy. Going backwards is not going forward in a series!

But this still was a good episode. I like the reveal about Fiona and some of her back story with her brother. I like the undercover Irish version of Michael Weston. There was still more of the been there done that scenario when Michael's mother was going to sell the house. Look, that lady knows a heck of a lot more than what she's saying and they are revealing that secret way too slowly for my tastes.

Still a great episode, but I have to grade it harder because it's a finale. Their going to have to come back with better surprises than that, if they want to top any of their past finales.

    Summer season finale. hide show

Burn Notice concluded the first half of its third season tonight with yet another complete thrill ride from start to finish with all the action we can handle from a cable series.

But did this episode satisfy hardcore fans for the months that this show will be off the air? That I am not sure about as this was good, but not spectacular, by any stretch of the imagination. The whole deal with Madeline selling the house seemed more 7th Heaven than Burn Notice, but at least we had some good shootouts to make up for it.

Props to Burn Notice for staying strong and laying the foundation for many more seasons.
