Having set off from London in April 2004, Ewan and Charley travelled through some of the most beautiful, but often dangerous, terrain the world has to offer. Crossing over into mainland Europe, they travelled through France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, Alaska, Canada and three months later they arrived at their final destination, New York City USA!

Ewan and Charley had to survive in minus temperatures, ride their bikes cross country where it was so remote there were no roads, and protect themselves from wild animals. However, they also saw many beautiful sights that most of us only dream of, interacted with interesting people from many different cultures, and got involved in activities along the way that really gave them an insight into these remote regions of the world.less «

  This is a plea to TV.com to start up the page for "Long Way Down", which is the Sequel to "Long Way Round" starring Ewan Mcgregor and Charlie Boorman. It's kind of a season 2 of "Long Way Round" but a few years later so I guess you have some options as to where you're going to place it on TV.com. Instead of around the globe on their motorbikes, they're going from England to Cape Town South Africa. It airs on BBC TWO on Sunday's at 9:00pm.   10/10 show that never gets boring!! hide « show »

  This is one of the best travel docs out there, wished it had been longer. Starting the series with training and plotting for the journey, they set off for New York in aid of UNICEF and full of excitement and curiosity of what lies ahead. From leaving London they travel though Europe towards Russia, calling at countries such as France, Germany, Czech Republic and Ukraine etc. My favorite part of the show started here from Russia though Kazhakstan Mongolia and back into Russia up "The Road of Bones" in Far east Siberia ending up at Magadan, then across the Beiring straight and on to New York. Overall this series covers an incredible journey full of determination and friendship, I also recommend the book to this series, i found it hard to put down.

  2 men, 2 bikes, 20,000 miles hide « show »

  I'll be the first to admit that I'm not all that interested in bikes or motorcycling, and the series didn't really appeal to me at first, but I walked in halfway through the first episode and I was hooked.
  
  The reason that this show works, for me, is because of Ewan and Charley. They have a great relationship and together they are so funny, and even individually, you start to get attached to them and what they're doing. It was really fascinating to see they travelling around the world on their bikes and the places they go to because they're places that people don't usually visit.
  
  It's nice to see that Ewan McGregor, being such a big Hollywood star, is still down to earth and really personable because really it's the people that make this series. I would recommend this to everyone, even if, like me, you don't have a clue about bikes.

  Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman ride a couple of bikes all the way from the UK, over Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, Alaska, Canada, finally arriving in the USA. A big adventure with plenty of lows and high points. hide « show »

  Big film star staying with maffia strangers who show off guns or see them robbed at gun point on a road. Petrol splashed in Ewan's eyes, the struggle on the road, thrills and spills all the way. This is a terrific show, I watched each episode more than once, purchased the DVD and read the book. A real insight into places I'll never go and people I'll never see. Also an excellent portrait into Mr McGregor, more down to earth than I thought he would be. Go see it.
