  • 16 Blocks is all one detective needs to travel to get back to his burnt-out life. Jack Mosley (Bruce Willis) is an alcoholic veteran detective that has lost the ability to care; he's had too many bad criminals and too many bad days. After working an all-night shift, Jack's lieutenant asks him to carry a witness (Eddie, played by Mos Def) to court. Jack finds Eddie annoying, over-talkative and refuses to care about his pleas to get to court quickly. If Eddie is late he doesn't get another chance, and goes back to jail for good. Jack cannot be bothered by Eddie and even stops at a liquor store for more alcohol, where he and Eddie get ambushed by gunmen. They escape to a local bar, where Jack calls for backup. When backup arrives, it's an old friend of Jack's, Frank (David Morse) who explains Eddie is going to testify against another cop, and he's not trustworthy. Jack begins to figure out that things are not right, and his friend is not being honest. Jack begins to see dirty cops and moles within his department as they battle their way 16 blocks to the courthouse. Can Jack get Eddie to the courthouse in time and get to the truth?moreless
