A Guide for the Married Man is a classic comedy film from 1967. The film follows the story of Paul Manning (Walter Matthau) who is a loyal husband to wife Ruth (Inger Stevens), but starting to grow bored with the same old routine. His neighbor, Ed Stander (Robert Morse) is outgoing and an increasingly interesting man. When Paul finds out that Ed's happiness is the result of an affair that Ed is having on his wife Harriet (Claire Kelly), Paul wants to know more. Ed explains to Paul that there have been many great men throughout history that have had affairs. Intrigued by Ed's stories, Paul begins to covet the blond bombshell, Irma Johnson (Sue Ane Langdon), that happens to live close by. Ed decides he's going to help Paul get what he wants and becomes his adultery coach. But when Paul's chance is finally given to him at a motel, the noise of police sirens sends him home to his loving wife who he swears he'll never think about leaving ever again.
