  • All The President's Men is the critically acclaimed, true-to-life political thriller directed by Alan J. Pakula (Klute, The Parallax View) and written by William Goldman (Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid) that is rightly hailed as one of the best films of the 1970s. Based on the 1974 non-fiction book of that same name, the film dramatizes the actual efforts of Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward (Robert Redford, The Sting) and Carl Bernstein (The Graduate) to uncover and illuminate the Watergate scandal. Together, their investigative tactics helped spur the events that resulted in the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon. What seems like a minor occurrence at first in the form of a Watergate Hotel break-in by members of Nixon's staff soon spirals into a high-stakes game of intrigue that eventually leads to the collapse of Nixon's entire administration. The film became a huge box office smash and ultimately has gone on every critic's list as one the Best Films of All-Time.moreless
