  • Annapurna Circuit Trek, Nepal follows traveler Richard Hunt as he traverses inner Nepal, providing books and other learning materials to local schools through the Room to Read program. Following the Besi Sahir circuit trail at an average height of 2,700 feet above sea level, this amateur film documentary highlights the impoverished but hospitable locals. Notable figures include a local Llama, who provides the hikers with a blessing, and dozens of cheerful children thrilled to be receiving books from distant Western countries. Although most of the trekking is done on foot accompanied by native porters, there is a memorable bus ride from the town of Beni to the nearby city of Pokhara. The height of the action comes in the Throng-La Pass, which is at a staggering 17,769 ft. elevation and allows for excellent panorama shots of Annapurna mountain. Part naturalist documentary, part high-altitude adventure, this impressive hike is full of beautiful scenery and local color.moreless
