  • Annie Hall is a romantic comedy directed by Woody Allen and written by Woody Allen and Marshall Brickman. Released in 1977, it was a departure from the slapstick comedies that Woody Allen was so well known for at the time and is instead a more serious comedy and love and relationships. Annie Hall focuses on Alvy Singer (Woody Allen), a comedian who meets the eccentric Annie Hall (Diane Keaton) after a tennis match with some friends. Despite their social awkwardness and neuroses, the two hit it off and begin dating. As they learn more about each others' pasts, childhood experiences, and ex significant others, they grow closer together and eventually further apart. Although Alvy and Annie share a great bond, they begin to realize that there might be something more than that to a lasting relationship. When Annie is tempted by the sunshine of California and the promise of a potential singing career, the couple's future seems doomed. Will these two stubborn old friends find that their love is enough to keep them together, or are relationships more complex than they realize? Annie Hall also features Paul Simon, Shelley Duvall, Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, Sigourney Weaver, and Beverly D'Angelo.moreless
