  • Barbershop is a 2002 comedy directed by Tim Story. Calvin Palmer, Jr. (Ice Cube) inherited a business he never wanted when his father passed away and left him the struggling barbershop. The shop loses money every month and Calvin constantly has to look for money to pay his bills. Finally sick and tired of the shop, Calvin agrees to sell the business to Lester Wallace (Keith David). Calvin's wife, Jennifer (Jazsmin Lewis), has big problems with selling the shop. She sees the shop as a piece of family history and doesn't understand why Calvin doesn't see it that way. With her urging he spends a full day in the shop cutting hair and spending time with the extended community the barbershop's customers represent. Opening his heart and soul to the shop brings a profound change in Calvin. He understands for the first time exactly what the shop means to the community at large and to his family roots and heritage. Lester Wallace agrees to let Calvin have the business back, but for twice the money and he wants it in 24 hours. The neighborhood rallies to Calvin's aid, but can they ever do enough to save their beloved shop?moreless
