  • Crash is the controversial 1996 dramatic thriller based on the novel by J.G. Ballard (Empire of the Sun) and directed by legendary filmmaker David Cronenberg (The Fly, A History of Violence, The Brood, Videodrome, Scanners). A married couple, James (James Spader, Wolf, Sex, Lies and Videotape, Jack's Back) and Catherine (Deborah Kara Unger, The Game), experiment with anonymous sex. Things take a drastic turn after James gets into a serious car crash which injures Dr. Ellen Remington (Holly Hunter, Copycat, Raising Arizona) and kills her husband. Soon after their release from the hospital, both James and Ellen meet on a regular basis at the airport parking lot to have sex. Eventually they discover an underground sub-culture, headed by Vaughan (Elias Koteas, Zodiac, Apt Pupil, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Movie) of scarred, omnisexual car-crash victims who get off on car crashes. Through this medium James attempts to rejuvenate his sex life with his wife.moreless
