  • Dead Bang is a 1989 thriller directed by John Frankenheimer and written by Robert Foster. Jerry Beck (Don Johnson) is an alcoholic, soon-to-be divorced homicide investigator who is teetering on the edge of burn out. With his life in shambles he transfers from Miami to Los Angeles looking for a fresh start. Soon after arriving he becomes involved in the case of his life, when on Christmas Eve, an African American store owner and a fellow police officer are brutally murdered. Jerry is assigned the task of tracking down the men's killer. His investigation quickly uncovers a complex nation-wide plot involving hate literature, gun running and a group of violent white supremacists. Matters are further complicated when a bumbling by-the-book FBI agent (William Forsythe) joins the investigation. And when Jerry becomes romantically involved with the dead cop's wife (Penelope Ann Miller), she pressures him not only to find the murderer, but also to kill him.moreless
