  • movie Description
  • Deep Blue Sea is a 1999 action/science fiction thriller directed by Renny Harlin. The film is set on Aquatica, a former submarine refueling station far out in the ocean that has been redesigned as a scientific facility. There, a group of scientists work to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Susan McAlester (Saffron Burrows) steps outside of the ethical codes they are supposed to work under and genetically engineers three Mako sharks to increase their brain capacity. Her reasoning for this is to get a greater number of tissue samples to work with, but it really just makes the sharks smarter and faster, and therefore, more dangerous. The project's financial backers send Russell Franklin (Samuel L. Jackson) to make sure the facility is getting the necessary results. When the sharks show off just how smart they really are now and breach the facility, the team, including shark expert Carter Blake (Thomas Jane) and cook Preacher (LL Cool J), must figure out how to outsmart this new deadly intelligent threat.moreless
