  • Funny Money is a movie that was developed from the stage play by Ray Crooney. Henry Perkins (Chevy Chase) is heading home from work on the subway when he mistakenly takes another man's briefcase. He doesn't realize his mistake until he is off the train and opens his briefcase to retrieve his gloves and scarf. Instead of his personal items, Perkins finds $5 million in cash. Realizing this money is most likely from a criminal organization, he has no qualms about keeping it. He also decides that he and his wife (Penelope Ann Miller) should leave the country immediately for an early retirement. Before Henry gets home, he goes to a bar and counts the money. This is where his problems begin. A dirty cop (Armand Assante) notices what Henry is doing, and follows him home looking for a payout. Henry arrives home and tells his wife of the plan and she is less than enthused. Adding to the problem is that the money's owner, an angry mobster, is also looking for him. Funny Money is classic Chevy Chase; there is slapstick and mayhem galore with a constant barrage of ridiculous scenarios.moreless
