Valley of Fire is a 1951 musical western film directed by John English featuring the famous singing cowboy, Gene Autry. It was shot in sepia toned film as a gimmick to try to make up for it not being in color like many of the Roy Roger films of that time period were. Gene plays the mayor of a California boomtown, Quartz City, in 1850. He wants to rid his town of gambling and try to tame the rowdy population which is only males. He brings in a caravan of beautiful women to hopefully settle down the townsfolk. However a renegade gang wants to kidnap the women and bring them to a rival mining camp and then take over the town themselves. Can Gene stop these ruffians and save the would be brides?
