  • Texans Never Cry is a 1951 western action musical directed by Frank McDonald. It stars America's famous singing cowboy, Gene Autry. The film follows Autry as a Texas Ranger Sergeant and his pal Pecos Bates (played by Pat Buttram). The two of them must save the family of Nancy Carter (played by Gail Davis) from eviction. Nancy's father (played by Harry Tyler) purchased fake Mexican lottery tickets. Gene thinks that Tracy Wyatt (played by Tom Keene under the name Richard Powers) is the head of the counterfeit lottery gang but has no strong proof. The paper the tickets came on was from the newspaper publisher Frank Bagley (played by Roy Gordon) who uses Rita, his daughter (played by Mary Castle), as the courier. The gang fears that Gene is getting close to uncovering them so they get a hired gunman, Steve Diamond (played by Russel Hayden) to go and murder him.moreless
