  • Gunnin' For That #1 Spot is a 2008 basketball documentary about America's most talented high school players directed by Beastie Boy Adam Yauch. The film covers the inaugural "Elite 24" game at Harlem's famous Rucker court, where sports legends Julius Erving, Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabar once played. The film follows NBA hopefuls Jerryd Bayless, Michael Beasley, Tyreke Evans and Kevin Love, high school students who have already been selected as the best of the best. As they prepare to take part in the playground style competition, these teenagers describe their backgrounds and show their understanding of the business side of the game. Corporate sponsors, college coaches, relatives and the media have already placed a heavy burden of expectation on their young shoulders. Then the game finally arrives, with a rousing soundtrack featuring an array of hip-hop music from Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Jay-Z and others, with these talented young men demonstrating their awesome moves.moreless
