  • movie Description
  • Leaving Las Vegas is the story of a man crippled by alcoholism and his unorthodox relationship with a Las Vegas prostitute. Ben Anderson (Nicolas Cage) is a screenwriter who has lost everything because of his addiction to alcohol. He moves to Las Vegas with the clear and focused intention of drinking himself to death. On his second night he meets a prostitute named Sera (Elizabeth Shue). Both tragically lonely, Ben and Sera eventually develop a deep but odd relationship which is perhaps the most meaningful that either could have hoped for at this point in their lives. The film was adapted for the screen by Mike Figgis from the novel of the same name by John O'Brien, who committed suicide just two weeks after hearing that it would be made into a feature film. Nominated for four Academy Awards, Leaving Las Vegas is the darkly comic tragedy of two hopeless individuals who somehow find happiness in each other while their own lives slowly slip away.moreless
