Let's Do It Again
- movie Description
Let's Do It Again is a mid-seventies comedy about a couple of working guys who find trouble after rigging a boxing match in order to raise money. Blue-collar buddies Clyde Williams (Sidney Poitier) and Billy Foster (Bill Cosby) adore their beloved fraternal order, the Brothers and Sisters of Shaka, but it is running out of money. When they learn that wimpy boxer Bootney Farnsworth (Jimmy Walker), a longshot underdog, can be made into a champion through hypnosis, they hatch a plan to bet on him, earning a handsome payday. All is well until the mafia learns of Williams' and Foster's scheme, and they come knocking with demands for another rigged fight, a feat that may prove impossible. Poitier also directs this hilarious gem, the second in a series of pairings between him and Cosby. Let's Do It Again was competing with the popular genre of blaxploitation films at the time, and while the sets and costumes are in the same vain, the laughs deliver a knockout punch. And as would be expected with the always conscious Portier/Cosby, good, clean fun abounds, while violence and profanity is nowhere to be found. An array of comedy all-stars like Ossie Davis, John Amos and Denise Nicholas join in to make this blast from the past a real treasure. Watch it once, and you'll surely be saying "Lets Do It Again."moreless
