Pioneer Woman is a 1973 Western film directed by Buzz Kulik which tells the story of a homesteading family as they move West to find a better life. John Sergeant (William Shatner) decides to quit his job as a store clerk in Indiana and move with his wife, Maggie (Joanna Pettet), and their two children to a newly bought property in Wyoming. Their road towards a prosperous future is complicated by Maggie's pregnancy which tragically results in a miscarriage. When they arrive in Wyoming and claim their land, Sergeants realize that the drama is not over. Before he travels to register his land in the nearest town, John needs to build a house which can provide shelter to his family. When a big rainfall starts, John is caught in a flash flood and dies leaving his family in great financial hardship. Maggie must decide whether she and her children will try to make a living on the new land or return to safer and more populated Indiana. Her courage and endurance will soon be tested as she will face a fire that will threaten their crops among many other challenging events.moreless
