  • movie Description
  • Poetry in Motion is a documentary that is a collection of more than 20 North American poets showcasing work in different ways. The film opens with Charlie Bukowski talking about common criticisms about poetry, such as it being boring and not making much sense. Then it moves on to show a world of poetry that counters these ideas. Poems are sung, chanted, and performed. Basically anything but reading. The poets in the film work hard to make their poems come alive for their audience. Many different kinds and styles are included in this movie such as Black Mountain poets, beat poetryand avant-garde poets. The film includes some of the big names in the poetry world from when the movie was released in 1982, including the children of Walt Whitman and Charles Olson, John Cage, The Four Horseman and Tom Waits. Poetry in Motion is 90 minutes of a constant barrage of words, music and poetry.moreless
