  • Sex and the Single Girl is a 1964 comedy based loosely on a book of the same name by Helen Gurley Brown. When sleazy reporter Bob Weston (Tony Curtis) wants to do an expose on noted psychologist and author Helen Gurley Brown (Natalie Wood), he poses as his henpecked neighbor Frank Broderick (Henry Fonda) and becomes a patient of Helen's to break the story. Using Frank and his wife Sylvia's (Lauren Bacall) lives for psychological fodder, Bob slowly begins to win Helen's heart. When Helen contacts Sylvia to try to work things out, the real Sylvia has no idea what she is talking about. Meanwhile, Bob is trying to create a Sylvia of his own to solve his problems with Helen. As misunderstanding multiply, two cabbies with their own agendas join the unlikely foursome and take the situation to the next level of confusion. Viewers today will be charmed by the innocence of this 1960s comedy.moreless
