  • Sicko is a documentary film regarding controversial topics in the United States healthcare system directed by legendary documentary filmmaker Michael Moore. The film was released in 2007 and received critical acclaim from around the world, including a standing ovation at its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Moore criticizes the United States healthcare system, more specifically the dictatorial pharmaceutical business, as well as the health insurance industry that dominate the country. He delves into the realities of the healthcare system in the United States, and compares them to the non-for-profit universal healthcare systems of Canada, France, and Cuba. Through extensive interviewing of doctors, patients, pharmacists, political figures, and civilians, Moore is able to expose to the public some of the issues average American's face as a result of the unjust system. Similary, he explains how things could change for the better should the United States adopt a system more like it's neighboring countries. You don't have to be politically active or a healthcare reformist to watch this movie. If nothing else, Sicko will broaden your knowledge on the seemingly unjust healthcare system which rules in the United States today.moreless
