  • The Children of Huan Shi is a 2008 Chinese film about a group of orphans trekking across China in search of survival. George Hogg (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), a British gentleman and photographer, sneaks into China to cover the brutality of the Japanese invasion. After witnessing two of his colleagues being murdered, he himself is wounded in a fire fight. He takes refuge at an orphanage. There he begins to fall in love with the beautiful American nurse, Lee (Radha Mitchell). However, soon the orphanage must be cleared out for fear of violence. Hogg takes it upon himself to lead a troop of orphans through the mountains of China in pursuit of safety and freedom. The journey will take three months through the snow if they are to reach the edge of Mongolia and the Great Wall. On the way, Hogg befriends Madam Wang (Michelle Yeoh), a survivor of the Japanese invasion who pledges to help the orphans reach their destination. However, luck does not seem to be with the travellers as they make their journey.moreless
