  • The Last Remake of Beau Geste is a historical comedy film released in 1977. The film is loosely based on the 1924 adventure novel, Beau Geste. In the movie, brothers Digby Geste (Marty Feldman) and Beau Geste (Michael York) compete with their stepmother (Ann-Margret) over the possession of a valuable family heirloom, the Blue Water sapphire. When their father, Sir Hector Geste (Trevor Howard) goes to his deathbed, where he remains for the rest of the film, Beau steals the sapphire in order to keep in out of their stepmother's hands. The brothers then join the Foreign Legion after claiming responsibility for the disappearance of the heirloom. Digby and Beau quickly find themselves in conflict with their commander, Sergeant Markov (Peter Ustinov), which leads to many hijinks. Also looking to snatch the priceless sapphire throughout the film are Sir Hector Geste's new wife, Flavia, and Sir Hector's daughter, Isabel Geste (Sin''ad Cusack).moreless
