The Little Foxes
- movie Description
The Little Foxes is a classic 1941 family drama starring Bette Davis as the manipulative matriarch of a wealthy Southern family. Regina Hubbard Giddens (Bette Davis) has little concern for her ailing husband, Horace (Herbert Marshall), from whom she has been estranged for many years. When her brothers, Ben (Charles Dingle) and Oscar (Carl Benton Reid), offer her the opportunity to invest in a cotton mill, she needs Horace's signature to acquire the $75,000 needed. Her docile daughter, Alexandra (Teresa Wright), becomes the pawn in Regina's play to control of the family fortune. Regina first tries to use Horace's affection for Alexandra as a device. When that plan fails, Regina arranges a marriage between Alexandra and her cousin, Leo (Dan Duryea). Regina wants her piece of the mill and will use blackmail, lies and her daughter's happiness to get it. Oscar winner William Wyler ("Ben-Hur") directs this dark portrait of a family caught in a web of power and greed.moreless
