  • The Ringer is a cult comedy directed by Barry W. Blaustein. It follows Steve Baker (Johnny Knoxville), an office worker who only works to make ends meet. He hates his job with a passion until his boss finally decides to give him a proper raise. There is only one condition: Steve has to prove himself fit for the managerial position by firing Stavi (Luis Avalos), a janitor at the company and Steve's long-time buddy. Steve fires Stavi, but upon seeing the look on the poor man's face, follows up by saying that he only did that so he could hire Stavi for himself. He brings his friend home and puts him to work doing chores. Stavi gets three of his fingers cut off in a freak lawnmower accident and reveals that he doesn't have any sort of health insurance. His operation costs $28,000 and Steve, feeling guilty, offers to raise the money. He approaches his crazy uncle, Gary (Brian Cox), and the two hatch a despicable scheme to fix their money woes: Steve will enter the Special Olympics and his uncle will fix the bets.moreless
