  • The Vikings is a 1958 film directed by Richard Fleischer, starring and co-produced by Kirk Douglas. A Viking chief, Ragnar (Ernest Borgnine), kills the king of Northumbria and rapes his wife. The tyrannical Aella (Frank Thring) takes the throne of Northumbria, whilst the child, whose very existence is known only to a monk, is enslaved by Vikings and grows into a young man named Eric (Tony Curtis). A Northumbrian nobleman exiled by Aella learns Eric's true identity and tries to use it to his advantage. Eric becomes a rival to Ragnar's heir, Einar (Douglas), when both become enamoured of the Welsh Princess Morgana (Janet Leigh) after her capture by the Vikings en route to marry Aella.moreless
