- movie Description
Thirteen Days is a fact-based drama about the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. In the film, President John F. Kennedy (Bruce Greenwood) is forced to face the prospect of a nuclear Cuba when U-2 surveillance photographs show that the Soviet Union is sending missiles there. Though many of his advisers encourage the President to order an immediate military strike against Cuba, Kennedy resists the impulse because he fears it would cause a Soviet invasion of Berlin. After consulting his brother Bobby (Steven Culp) and adviser Kenny O'Donnell (Kevin Costner), Kennedy decides to order the Navy to quarantine Cuba and inspect all incoming ships for nuclear weapons. What follows is high stakes gamesmanship between the two nuclear superpowers. The Soviets send mixed signals to the Americans, and some members of the American military community act without notifying Kennedy of their intentions. Eventually, the two superpowers stand eyeball to eyeball on the brink of war and the only question is which one will blink first.moreless
