  • Valley Girl is a 1983 film which mocks the superficiality of Southern California girls .The movie was written during a time when this theme was up and coming. Valley Girl was directed by Martha Coolidge who has also done Sex and the City, CSI, Weeds, and much more. Valley Girl centers around a girl named Julie (Deborah Foreman) who seemingly has it all. She is surrounded by an army of materialistic girls whose every other words are "like" and "gag me". One day while shopping at the mall with some friends, Julie decides to break up with her boyfriend Tommy (Michael Bowen) - an arrogant boy with a selfish attitude. Later that same day Julie meets a Hollywood bad boy named Randy (Nicholas Cage) at a party. Randy sticks out like a sore thumb, and is thrown out of the party. However, Julie finds herself interested in this alternative man, and allows him to take her out several times. Julie and Randy begin to date, but her friends will not accept Randy because he is different. And now, Tommy also wants her back, so she must choose between her past life and her new, alternative one. If you are a fan of Clueless or Legally Blonde, Valley Girl is a must see.moreless
