... ABC Family has renewed Melissa & Joey, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, for a second season! *crickets* [Deadline Hollywood]

... Starz's new original series Torchwood: Miracle Day debuted strong for the premium network, by its own standards. The sci-fi series drew 1.5 million viewers in two airings on Friday night, matching the network's previous high, which was recently set by the now-canceled Camelot. That's where the similarities end, though; Torchwood: Miracle Day doesn't make me want to scoop out my eyeballs with a grapefruit spoon. [EW]

... Remember all that talk about Vinny leaving Jersey Shore? Well it may have all been a publicity stunt. Who would have thought MTV and Jersey Shore would sink so low? [TMZ]

... VH1's Celebrity Rehab is going on hiatus for a bit so Dr. Drew can spend more time on other projects. The show is currently in its sixth season of helping people you haven't really heard of or care about. [Radar Online]

... Speaking of people I haven't really heard of, Deidre Hall is returning to Days of Our Lives after two years away from the soap. She was dropped from the program in 2009 due to budget cuts. [EW]

... If you missed the first run of Friday Night Lights, you suck and should be publicly flogged. But once you've recovered from your whipping, you can join the rest of us by watching the football drama on ESPN classic starting this week. [The Wrap]

... Seth Green and Matt Senreich, the duo behind Robot Chicken, will bring their stop-motion madness to YouTube beginning this Friday, with a new series called Stoopid Monkey. [Deadline Hollywood]

Torchwood would naturally do well because it's got a pre-made audience which comes from the previous seasons of the show, who tend to be mostly Dr. Who fans. So it would be surprising for it not to do well. And there isn't a whole lot of good sci-fi on TV right now.

Good news about Melissa & Joey. I don't go out of my way to watch but when I have it's been a nice break from things. Good humor and the chemistry between the actors works well for the comedy. A nice 30 min comedy. Also good news about Torchwood: Miracle Day. Let's hope it stays good without fading into typical garbage that clogs the airwaves these days. Jersey Shore? Who F'ing cares. People leaving? Don't care. PR stunts? Don't care. Garbage is garbage. It makes too much money for them to simply cancel, however. I expect the viewers have the same mentality as the people who watched Jackass and Viva La Bam. Don't miss hearing about either of those shows and "how cool this one thing these guys did" was. VH1 Celeb Rehab on hiatus? Actually I really really am not surprised after the death of Jeff Conaway and the fact he starred on the show for two seasons. Some time off from new episodes is probably a good thing. I can't say I watched the show because personally I think they make it into too much of a money making thing rather than honest to goodness rehab. The people KNOW they are on camera. How much is real and how much is an act by the rehab patients? I respect people going to rehab but I just feel the show is... wrong.

Really? A publicity stunt in Jersey Shore? Who would've thunk? It's been known a long time that it is scripted.
